It’s always great when you know a local team’s attendance well before the game even starts. Yes, that’s right, the UMass Minutemen football team has been officially sold out for today’s Mid-American Conference game against Eastern Michigan.
The sellout was officially announced early Friday morning, just over 24 hours before Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. kickoff. Saturday’s sold out attendance will be 17,000, Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium’s official capacity.
While the game will be available on the ESPN App, it will only be streaming, and not on cable TV. Western Mass. fans can watch the Minutemen go for 5-0 on Saturday live on ESPN+.
Should the Minutemen reach 5-0, they will do so for the first time since the 1975 season, a time when the program played in Division II football. Currently, UMass is 4-0, their best start since the 2007 season. Back in 2007, UMass was not in Division I FBS like they are now. The Minutemen played in Division I FCS, formerly known as 1-AA.
As fans pack Alumni Stadium on Saturday, football fans throughout the country will be able to stream live on the ESPN App to watch UMass try to remain unbeaten, and show the nation that FBS college football can in fact succeed right here in our home of Western Mass.
